Save Your Skin From The Cold

Save Your Skin From The Cold

As we head into the final stretch of winter, it’s still very important that we take care of our skin to protect it from the damage caused by cold and dry air. At Clartici, we have studied how different climates affect different skin types, so there will never be a one-size-fits-all skincare solution because your skin has its unique needs, but there are still general routines that can help save your skin from the cold.

Hydrate Your Skin

When the air is cold, it is less likely that you will find enough moisture in the air to keep your skin looking and feeling hydrated. That is why it is so important to use a hydrator and a moisturizer to hydrate and lock in all of the moisture that keeps your skin glowing beautifully. We recommend using a thick moisturizing cream when it is colder and your skin is not producing as much sebum as it would in the warmer months.

While many experts would recommend that you exfoliate less in the winter, it is still important that you scrub away the excess skin cells that clog your pores. When it gets colder outside, our skin produces less oil than usual and while this does mean that you are a little less likely to develop major acne breakouts when it’s cold, dry skin will flake off and cause your skin to show plenty of blemishes. Exfoliate once or twice a week in order to save your skin from the cold and unsightly acne this winter.

As we mentioned earlier, it is important that you introduce your skin to moisture that is lacking in the air as the temperature drops. Now, we already recommended that you hydrate your skin. Part 2 to that is moisturizing.

If you are unsure what the difference between hydrating and moisturizing is, don’t worry. Essentially hydrators help your skin absorb moisture and infuse your cells with water and improve your skin’s ability to be receptive to moisture. Moisturizers, on the other hand, help lock in that water once it’s in your skin. Think of it as adding a protective barrier. So it’s important to use both.

Use Skin Saving Serums

Assuming the rest of your skincare regimen is in order, from washing your face with cleansers, using toners, and exfoliating regularly, it’s time to introduce your skin to serums that are designed to nourish and rejuvenate your skin to help protect it from the harsh cold. Clartici’s Reiki and Sanguine serums are the perfect remedies for any skin type, no matter the complexion.
